MARK SPINA

Hello,

I became interested in sports at a very young age while, in tow with my parents watching my older siblings participate in track & field. While studying architecture I was lucky enough to get a hole-in-one golfing alongside my boss. Soon after, I joined bowling & golf leagues for fun. All of these things helped me to discovered my competitive side.

It wasn’t until 2011 that I found CrossFit. I walked into the gym with a co-worker and was hooked instantly. I loved the competitiveness and enjoy being surrounded by people smarter, faster, and stronger than myself. Early on during the workouts, I remember thinking I knew my limits, only to be pushed through them by the CrossFitter next to me.

I have three children, two sons and a daughter, who are growing all to fast. I stay active in my community by hosting blood drives & Toy’s for Tot’s drop off locations. Every day feels like a Friday and I’m excited to see the challenges and changes ahead.

DR. COREY BORCK

I have been married to my wife Shanda for 24 years. We have 3 children, Blake-20, Flesia-18 and Ethan-18. I am a Doctor of Chiropractic and have been in private practice since 2004. I have had the opportunity to provide care for 4 different State Championship teams and I am the official Chiropractor for Adrian College Athletics.

I began my journey into CrossFit in 2010 and began coaching in 2015. I feel my background as a Doctor of Chiropractic helps me immensely in understanding the demands put on individual athletes. Each person has different physical abilities and CrossFit meets them where they are at and challenges them to improve at their own pace.

What I love about Blackhorse is the sense of community. The people you meet become like family. It truly is an environment unlike any other. Come join us and see for yourself why we are different. Be careful though, once you drink the cool-aid you’ll never be the same!

JENNA KAPELA

Jenna is 25 years old and moved to Adrian in 2021 with her boyfriend Casey in the process of a career change. She is a firefighter/EMT for Toledo Fire and Rescue Department and loves to expand her credentials as much as she can. Recently completing her Ropes Rescue certification and planning on expanding more Technical Rescue training,

Jenna also has a love for fitness. The beginning of her fitness career began after high school as she found an interest in bodybuilding. She taught herself how to workout with the goal of gaining muscle size and strength in only a basement gym with limited equipment or knowledge.

Once she started the fire academy in 2021, her goals were no longer about building muscle, but to be an all around strong athlete for her career in firefighting. This goal meant more functional movements at higher intensity and much more endurance training. The switch was as easy as joining Blackhorse CrossFit where not only is she reaching her goals as a better athlete, but made the decision to take her love for fitness a step further and became a CrossFit Level 1 trainer. Jenna loves the community at Blackhorse and wants to share her knowledge to others so they can also become stronger, healthier, and overall a better version of themself.

MORGAN BLAKEMORE

Morgan has been a part of the CrossFit world since 2014. Joining CrossFit as someone who had zero knowledge about health or fitness she quickly fell in love with the atmosphere and lifestyle and never turned back.  She attended her CrossFit L1 in October 2018 and continues to build her knowledge through various resources.

What does Morgan love the most about CrossFit?  It has a way of allowing people to become both physically and mentally strong and it is an extremely empowering sport.

You can find Morgan mainly in the afternoons pushing all members, especially the ladies, to go a little harder and a little heavier during workouts.

Helping individuals by pushing them to achieve goals that they thought they would “never be able to do”, coaching them through the doubt, and being a part of their success story is what drives her.
